Information for Employers
Research by the New Economics Foundation shows that the money we are spending off the high street is more likely to leave the local area straight away, having less economic impact than spending in retailers with a localised supply chain.
And we are actually limiting our future economy by not supporting the new retailers and entrepreneurs that could be our future.
[The Portas Review]
In a recent sector skills report, one of the conclusions as to why the Retail sector was stuggling found “Management in many retail organisations are drawn from the shopfloor and / or from graduate trainee programmes for larger retailers.
To ensure that the quality of management is that required to facilitate growth and survival of UK retailers, employers must be able to recruit and retain graduate level employees or be able to offer the necessary support and management training to existing employees to ensure that they are equipped to fill management roles.”
Is this where you are at?
Do you have management staff, or staff who could progress into management, who would benefit from a comprehensive training package of retail management skills?
If you do, we have the units that will help develop them in their careers and subsequently benefit your business. This qualification is being designed to produce well-rounded, qualified staff in all areas of retail management.
The Higher Level Apprenticeship in Retail Management is a work based qualification being developed to train the managers of today and the future with the right skills needed for a rapidly changing industry.
Staff do not need any previous qualifications to enrol and it is available to all ages; they just need the dedication to gain great skills through their commitment to the course and a desire to achieve their potential in the workplace.
The qualification is equivalent to a Certificate of Higher Education and will contain a mixture of compulsory and optional learning modules. This will enable an employer to tailor the qualification so that it truly meets the needs of their business.
The qualification can be gained with minimal disruption to the daily running of the business. The majority of the training is through assessment in the workplace, alongside some classroom and online learning.
The course is very flexible and can be incorporated into your organisation’s existing training programmes and there are a variety of ways to help with any costs.
